Lasers

Hazards


Potential hazards include but are not limited to:

  • Eye injury



Operational


Laser classification must be marked on the laser.


Only Class 1, 2 and 3R lasers are permitted on site for the purposes of levelling, surveying or alignment.

  • Note class 3R were previously classed 3A
  • Class 3B and 4 lasers are not permitted to be used.


Operators of laser emitting equipment must comply with the manufacturers specifications and be trained in their use.


Signage must be displayed indicating the use of laser equipment.


As far as is practicable lasers should be set up above or below eye level and the beam path confined to the area of use.


Class 3R lasers should not be used in dimly lit environments.
